We provide an extensive training schedule which is mandated by the military and CASARA National. All new members begin by completing an introductory course, then ground homing specialist training, they may then have the opportunity to complete spotter training. This is followed up by 2 training flights in a CASARA aircraft, at which time you would become a qualified CASARA spotter! To remain to be a qualified spotter, one has to take a refresher course once a year. There is also spotter training available to fly in military search aircraft. We also provide navigation training, related to the various types of search patterns that we fly. For licensed pilots, one must have completed a navigation course, along with having at least 150 hours total time (pilot in command). In the event of an actual search, all training is put on hold until the search has ended.
Registration and membership is required to be a member of CASARA, with the cost being $20.00 per (fiscal) year. We meet on the first Monday of each month at 1900hrs (7PM), with the exception of July & August when there are no scheduled meetings. Our meetings are held at Bay 8, 1224 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, AB. (immediately north of the main postal plant). Our phone number is (403) 295-8378, which has a recording of all upcoming events. We also send out a schedule of all upcoming events to our members by email. If you wish more information, you can email us at: casaracalgary@gmail.com or call our phone number and leave a message and someone will return your call.
Thank you for your interest in CASARA!
